SML presents the next level in barrier sheet lines
New extruder technology boosts output
The barrier sheet line installed in Thailand is one of the most efficient that SML has ever designed and manufactured for this application. One outstanding feature is its use of four HSE high-speed extruders because this is the first time that SML has integrated this extruder technology into a barrier sheet line. Three HOLT high-output, low-temperature extruders are employed for the heat-sensitive materials and in order to cope with the high melt throughput from a total of seven extruders. SML’s most powerful horizontal roll stack forms the sheet.
Another advance has involved the further development and implementation of SML’s winding technology with automatically positioned winding trolleys, which can handle the increased film output volume.
A pleasure to work
Once again SML has thus proven in both a technical and organisational regard its ability to provide the international market with top performance barrier sheet lines. A fact confirmed by Victor Barr, the Visy Food Plastics Asia Project Manager in an e-mail to the SML CEO, Karl Stöger: "I had an opportunity to thank most of the SML technicians involved directly in the project in Thailand, but not those working behind the scenes in Austria.... On behalf of Visy Packaging (Thailand), I would like you to extend our sincere thanks and congratulations to everyone, who worked towards making the project such a resounding success. It has truly been a pleasure to work with your team once again."
